Rhinoplasty

Hospitalization: 1 day
Outpatient examination: within 6 days following discharge

Rhinoplasty or nose surgery sometimes referred to as “nose reshaping” or a “nose job,” improves the appearance and proportion of your nose, enhancing facial harmony and self-confidence. Surgery of the nose may also correct impaired breathing caused by structural abnormalities in the nose.

Enhancing your appearance with nose plastic surgery

While the shape of your nose is usually the result of heredity, the appearance may have been altered in an injury or during prior surgery.

What can surgery of the nose accomplish?

Rhinoplasty surgery can change:

  • Nose size, in relation to the other facial structures
  • Nose width, at the bridge
  • Nose profile, with visible humps or depressions on the bridge
  • Nasal tip, that is large or bulbous, drooping, or too upturned
  • Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned
  • Nasal asymmetry and deviation

Recovery

After your procedure is completed, a splint, internal tubes or packing will likely be placed inside your nose and a splint or bandages placed on the outside to support and protect the new structures during initial healing.

It may take several months for swelling to fully dissipate and up to a year – and sometimes longer – for the outcome of the surgery to fully refine after rhinoplasty surgery.

Although the results of nose surgery are usually permanent, cartilage may continue to reshape and move tissue that may change the outcome over time.

Breast Lift

Hospitalization: 1 day
Outpatient examination: within 6 days following discharge

Commonly referred to as a breast lift or boob lift, breast lift surgery raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour.

Enhancing your appearance with a breast lift

A woman’s breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes and loss of skin elasticity can result from:

  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding
  • Weight fluctuations
  • Aging
  • Gravity
  • Heredity

Sometimes the areola becomes enlarged over time, and a breast lift will reduce this as well. A breast lift can rejuvenate your figure with a breast profile that is youthful and uplifted.

What you can expect from breast lifts?

Breast lift surgery does not significantly change the size of your breasts or round out the upper part of your breast. If you want your breasts to look fuller, consider breast lift and augmentation surgery. If you want smaller breasts, consider combining breast lift and reduction surgery.

A breast lift is a good option for you if:

  • You are physically healthy and maintain a stable weight
  • You do not smoke
  • You have realistic expectations
  • You are bothered by the feeling that your breasts sag, have lost shape and volume
  • Your breasts have a flatter, elongated shape or are pendulous
  • When unsupported, your nipples fall below the breast crease
  • Your nipples and areolas point downward
  • You have stretched skin and enlarged areolas
  • One breast is lower than the other

Breast Lift – Mastopexia Recovery

After your breast lift procedure is completed, dressings or bandages will be applied to the incisions. You’ll need to wear an elastic bandage or support bra to minimize swelling and support your breasts as they heal.

A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect after breast lift surgery.

How long does it last?

The final results of your breast lift will appear over the next few months as breast shape and position continue to settle. Incision lines are permanent, but will continue to fade over time.

Your mastopexia results will be long-lasting. Over time, your breasts can continue to change due to aging and gravity. But, you will be able to retain your new look longer, if you:

  • Maintain your weight
  • Keep a healthy lifestyle

Liposuction (2-4 body areas)

Hospitalization: 1 day
Outpatient examination: within 4 days following discharge

Liposuction slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits, improving your body contours and proportion, and ultimately, enhancing your self-image. Despite good health and a reasonable level of fitness, some people may still have a body with disproportionate contours due to localized fat deposits. These areas may be due to family traits rather than a lack of weight control or fitness.

Liposuction surgery can be used to treat stubborn fat pockets in many parts of the body including:

  • Abdomen and waist
  • Thighs, hips and buttocks
  • Arms, neck and back
  • Inner knee
  • Chest
  • Cheeks and chin
  • Calves and ankles

Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity and is not a replacement for regular exercise and good eating habits. It is also not an effective treatment for cellulite, the dimpled skin that typically appears on the thighs, hips and buttocks.

People with stubborn areas of fat and who exercise regularly are the best candidates for this procedure.

Recovery

Once your procedure is completed, a compression garment or elastic bandages may cover treatment areas. These help to control swelling after liposuction and compress the skin to your new body contours.

In addition, small temporary drains may be placed in existing incisions beneath the skin to remove any excess blood or fluid.

Blepharoplasty (Upper and Lower Eyelids)

Hospitalization: 1 day
Outpatient examination: within 5 days following discharge

Eyelid surgery improves the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. It gives a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more rested and alert.

Treatable conditions:

  • Upper eyelid surgery can remove excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelids.
  • Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision, can be treated by eyelid lift surgery.
  • Lower eyelid blepharoplasty can remove excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid.
  • Bags under the eyes can be corrected by blepharoplasty.
  • Lower eyelid surgery can correct droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (colored portion of the eye).

Is it right for me?

A blepharoplasty procedure is usually performed on adult men and women who have healthy facial tissue and muscles and have realistic goals for improvement of the upper and/or lower eyelids and surrounding area.

You should undergo blepharoplasty surgery for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image.

RESULTS

The results of eyelid surgery will appear gradually as swelling and bruising subside to reveal a smooth, better-defined eyelid and surrounding region, and an alert and rejuvenated appearance.

Brow Lift and Forehead Lift

Outpatient examination: within 1 day following discharge

Brow Lift and Forehead Lift are usually reserved for patients aged 40, who have tissue accumulation in jowl and at the periphery of upper lip secondary to drooping. An incision, extending from preauricular (in front of the ear) region to postauricular (behind the ear) zone, is made for the surgery that is performed under general anesthesia. Superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) is tightened by cutting and/or stretching with stitches.

row Lift and Forehead Lift are usually reserved for patients aged >40, who have tissue accumulation in jowl and at the periphery of upper lip secondary to drooping. An incision, extending from preauricular (in front of the ear) region to postauricular (behind the ear) zone, is made for the surgery that is performed under general anesthesia. Superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) is tightened by cutting and/or stretching with stitches. Loose neck skin can also be eliminated in the same surgical session. Excessive skin is cut and silicone tubes, also known as drain, are placed at the surgical locus, and next, compressive bandage is properly applied. For excessive drooping, surgical procedure is required for lower eyelid and jowl in the same session. Surgical technique is determined according to the extent of sagging and excessive skin in the jowl. Laser lipolysis helps minimal sagging. However, it is necessary to lift or tighten neck muscle over a submandibular incision, if sagging is severe.

The patient is followed up at the hospital for one day after Brow Lift and Forehead Lift. The patient is given liquid and soft foods, after effects of anesthetic agents disappear in 6 to 8 hours. Facial swelling and edema will disappear in postoperative day 7 to 10.

Full Face Lift

Hospitalization: 1 day
Outpatient examination: within 7 days following discharge

If you are bothered by signs of aging in your face, facelift surgery may be right for you. Technically known as rhytidectomy, a facelift is a surgical procedure to improve visible signs of aging in the face and neck, such as:

  • Sagging in the midface
  • Deep creases below the lower eyelids
  • Deep creases along the nose extending to the corner of the mouth
  • Fat that has fallen or is displaced
  • Loss of muscle tone in the lower face may create jowls
  • Loose skin and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw can make even a person of normal weight appear to have a double chin

Rejuvenation procedures typically performed in conjunction with a facelift are brow lift, to correct a sagging or deeply furrowed brow, and surgery to rejuvenate aging eyes.

What facelifts won’t do?

As a restorative surgery, a facelift does not change your fundamental appearance and cannot stop the aging process.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Hospitalization: 2 day
Outpatient examination: within 6 days following discharge

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin, and in most cases restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer. A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. Sometimes these methods cannot achieve our goals.

Even individuals of otherwise normal body weight and proportion can develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging. The most common causes of this include:

  • Pregnancy
  • Aging
  • Significant fluctuations in weight
  • Heredity
  • Prior surgery

Tummy tuck surgery is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image.

Abdominoplasty is a good option for you if:

  • You are physically healthy and at a stable weight
  • You have realistic expectations
  • You do not smoke

Although the results of an abdominoplasty procedure are technically permanent, the positive outcome can be greatly diminished by significant fluctuations in your weight. For this reason, individuals who are planning substantial weight loss or women who may be considering future pregnancies may be advised to postpone abdominoplasty surgery.

What you should not expect from a tummy tuck:

Tummy tucks are not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. Also, tummy tuck operations cannot correct stretch marks, although these may be removed or somewhat improved if they are located on the areas of excess skin that will be excised, generally the treated areas below the belly button.

Results

Your abdominoplasty procedure will result in a flatter, firmer abdominal contour that is more proportionate with your body type and weight.

The final results may be initially obsccured by swelling and your inability to stand fully upright until internal healing is complete.

Within a week or two, you should be standing tall and confident about your new slimmer profile.

Recovery

Following your surgery, dressings or bandages may be applied to your incisions, and you may be wrapped in an elastic bandage or a compression garment to minimise swelling and to support your abdomen as it heals.

A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect to minimise swelling after tummy tuck surgery.

Breast Augmentation (Prosthesis)

Hospitalization: 1 day
Outpatient examination: within 5 days following discharge

Breast augmentation is the surgical placement of breast implants to increase fullness and projection of the breasts or to improve symmetry of the breasts.

What is Breast Augmentation Surgery?

Breast augmentation is the surgical placement of breast implants to increase fullness and projection of the breasts or to improve symmetry of the breasts. Clinically referred to augmentation mammoplasty, the procedure is used cosmetically to:

  • Enlarge a naturally small breast, most commonly the result of heredity
  • Restore breast volume lost following pregnancy, as a result of breast-feeding or due to weight loss
  • Achieve better symmetry when breasts are moderately disproportionate in size and shape

If you are dissatisfied with your breast size, breast augmentation surgery (either breast enhancement or breast enlargement) is a choice to consider. Breast augmentation can:

  • Increase fullness and projection of your breasts
  • Improve the balance of your figure
  • Enhance your self-image and self-confidence

Also known as augmentation mammoplasty, the procedure involves using implants to fulfill your desire for fuller breasts or to restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy.

Implants may also be used to reconstruct a breast after mastectomy or injury.

The success and safety of your breast augmentation procedure depends very much on your being completely candid during your consultation. By being actively involved in your consultation about breast augmentation, problems, concerns and questions you may have can be addressed by your surgeon.

You will be asked a number of questions about your health, desires and lifestyle.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

Many patients have questions about breast augmentation and recovery.

Although many factors are involved with determining your actual recovery time for breast augmentation, you will likely experience a post-surgical recovery period of 24 to 48 hours and an additional reduced-activity period of a few days, you will likely experience soreness and swelling for a few weeks.

Exercise and normal activity can resume at the direction of your plastic surgeon. Over time, post-surgical swelling will decrease and incision lines will fade.

How long does it last?

  • Breast implants are not guaranteed to last a lifetime and future surgery may be required to replace one or both implants.
  • Pregnancy, weight loss and menopause may influence the appearance of augmented breasts over the course of your lifetime.

Breast Reduction

Hospitalization: 1 day
Outpatient examination: within 6 days following discharge

Overly large breasts can cause some women to have both health and emotional problems. In addition to self-image issues, you may also experience physical pain and discomfort.

Also known as reduction mammoplasty, breast reduction surgery removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated with overly large breasts.

What are the steps of the Breast Reduction Procedure?

Breast reduction surgery is usually performed through incisions on your breasts with surgical removal of the excess fat, glandular tissue and skin.

In some cases, excess fat may be removed through liposuction in conjunction with the excision techniques described below. If the breast size is largely due to fatty tissue and excess skin is not a factor, liposuction alone may be used in the procedure for breast reduction.

The technique used to reduce the size of your breasts will be determined by your individual condition, breast composition, amount of reduction desired, your personal preferences and the surgeon’s advice.

Recovery

When your breast reduction procedure is complete, dressings or bandages will be applied to the incisions. An elastic bandage or support bra may be worn to minimise swelling and support the breasts as they heal.

A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect.

How long does it last?

The results of breast reduction surgery will be long-lasting. Your new breast size should help relieve you from the pain and physical limitations experienced prior to breast reduction.

Your better proportioned figure will likely enhance your self-image and boost your self-confidence.

However, over time your breasts can change due to aging, weight fluctuations, hormonal factors and gravity.
